It is a proven medical fact that 50 – 85% of diabetes complications can be avoided by early detection and adoption of appropriate preventive measures, such as:
- Measuring fasting blood sugar level.
- Measuring blood glucose level 2 hours after having a regular meal.
- Measuring cumulative blood sugar level over the past three months.
- Measuring ratio of albumin to creatinine in urine which is an early indication of kidney complications of diabetes.
- Measurement of liver function.
- Measurement of different kinds of blood lipids (useful and harmful) which are risk factors for blood vessel diseases in diabetics.

Description
Liver is a vital body organ, being primarily responsible for important body functions including: metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins, removal of toxins, synthesis of coagulation factors and synthesis of proteins such as albumin and prothrombin. Hepatitis is characterized by breaking of liver cells. The reason of this might be:- Direct effects such as infection with hepatitis viruses or consumption of toxic substances or drugs.
- Indirect effects such as many diseases that may affect other organs of the body.
- Acute hepatitis that normally lasts less than 6 months.
- Chronic hepatitis that lasts more than 6 months.
- Measurement of liver enzymes.
- Measuring of blood coagulation as a direct indicator of liver synthetic function.
- Measuring of icterus (jaundice- yellow coloration of the skin and eyes) to check liver ability to get rid of toxins.
- Measuring enzymes of biliary tract to see if there is a blockage as a result of stones or other diseases.
- Measuring level of albumin in blood as an indicator of liver synthetic function.
- Complete blood picture test to detect anemia and platelets levels as well as immune and allergic disorders.

Description
Kidney diseases are very common. Early detection can prevent progression to irreversible kidney damage.
According to statistics of The World Conference of Kidney held on 2012, more than 500 million people around the world (10% of the world’s population) are suffering from kidney damage with relative degrees, and still 90% are living with chronic kidney disease but unaware of it.
People who are more liable to kidney diseases are: Diabetic patients, hypertensives, Smokers, and individuals above the age of 50 years.
This is why we find it handy enough to offer some tests relevant to assess the kidney function:
- Checking basic functions of the kidney (urea and creatinine) to see the general status of kidneys.
- Checking efficiency of kidney in carrying out its basic biological functions.
- Measuring uric acid which increases in kidney diseases and gout.
- Complete urine test to detect kidney and urinary tract infections, as well as any abnormal crystal deposition.
- Measuring of salt elements in the body including sodium and potassium.
- Measuring albumin level in urine, being an early sign of kidney disease.
- Measuring Cystatin C level (one of the proteins) as its raise is a very early indicator of kidney disease, and at this stage curing is possible unlike the case at its late stage.

Description
Coronary artery disease is of the most common diseases globally, Hence, it is not strange now to see young people in their thirties suffering from heart problem.
Diabetes, Hypertension, smoking, obesity, lack of movement, continuous exposure to stress and other factors contribute to development of heart diseases, some factors are controllable while others are not:
Uncontrollable factors include: age, gender and heredity factors.
Controllable factors include: smoking, high cholesterol level, high blood pressure, diabetes, stress lack of sports and other physical activities.
This is why we have launched a special Program entitled “Salamtak Cardiovascular profile” which includes:
- Lipid profile includes measurement of cholesterol, triglycerides, as well as useful and harmful lipids which may lead to atherosclerosis.
- Measuring HbA1c: cumulative blood sugar level measurement over the past three months, which can early detect presence of diabetes.
- Measuring homocysteine: elevated homocysteine level has been found to be associated with increased risk of coronary artery diseases and stroke.
- Measuring hsCRP: slight rise of hsCRP can help predict person’s risk of developing heart disease.
- Measuring uric acid: elevated uric acid in blood is one of cardiovascular risk factor.
Pregnancy delay is one of the most irritating problems that may face any couple after marriage.
Thus, we found it a duty to offer some useful tests whose results may speed up pregnancy, allowing the married couples to adopt the needed corrective measures instead of wasting time just waiting.

Description
It has been medically revealed that male factors may contribute to about 50% of delayed childbearing.
The reasons according to international studies may be environmental, genetic, lifestyle and pollution that all have negative impact on male infertility.
Thus, we found it a duty to offer a group of useful tests to aid in diagnosis of possible causes of infertility:
- Computerized analysis of semen.
- Measurement of testosterone hormone (total and free).
- Measurement of pituitary hormones that stimulate fertility hormones.
- Measurement of lactation hormone which has an important effect on fertility status.
Female Tests |

Description
Several factors are known to affect fertility status of female including immune, genetic, hormonal and chromosomal factors.
This is why we offer the following female tests, which include the basic requirements of NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guidelines for infertility workup for a female:
- Measurement of pituitary hormones that stimulate other fertility hormones
- Measurement of lactation hormone that affects fertility hormones.
- Measuring the female sex hormones estrogen and progesterone.
- Measuring testosterone hormone as it has an impact on female sex hormones.
- Measurement of thyroid hormone that affects fertility hormones.
- Measurement of antimullerian hormone (AMH) as an indicator of ovarian reserve and thus reproductive ability in the future.

Genetic diseases and birth defects may be prevented by primary screening of the parents. The risk is higher though in consanguineous marriages (marriage of relative).
They may be also caused by other genetics and environmental factors.
This is why we are offering the following pre-marital service:
We have specialized doctors with great expertise in genetic diseases who are ready to counsel young couples before marriage to personalize tests needed for each inorder to screen for possibility of hereditary abnormalities.
The basic premarital tests include:
- A complete blood picture of the couple.
- Hemoglobin electrophoresis to detect inherited anemias e.g: Thalassemia.
- Hepatitis (B and C) tests to check possibility of this virus transmission to one of the spouses or to the fetus from the mother.
- Measuring cumulative blood sugar level over the past three months.
- Analysis of semen.
- Karyotyping: to examine chromosomes that carry genes, to detect genetic abnormalities in one of the spouses that may have a negative impact on their kids later on.

Description
Swelling, local heats and pains are common symptoms of joint and bone diseases, symptoms increase under physical stress and overweight of the patient. Joints of the wrists, knees, elbows, neck, ankles, and hand fingers are most commonly affected. Rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases, gout and osteoporosis are among the common causes of bone and joint affection.
Thus, we offer you a range of tests to detect the most important causes of bone and joint pains:
- Complete blood picture.
- ESR,CRP to measure inflammation in general, and arthritis in particular.
- Measurement of uric acid level where its increased level occurs in gout and some malignancies.
- Measurement of rheumatoid factors, rose waaler and anti CCP: to diagnose rheumatoid arthritis disease.
- Measurement of antinuclear antibodies, that rises in the blood of most patients with arthritis due to an autoimmune cause.
- Electrophoresis separation of protein to detect the presence of certain types of proteins, which are indicators of bone marrow tumors.
- Measuring bone alkaline phosphatase and B-crosslaps : markers of bone turn over and new bone formation which are important in patients with osteoporosis.

- Complete blood picture (to detect anemia and immune problems).
- Detecting blood type to predict the possibility of fetal blood cell breakage upon birth.
- Screening of diabetes an hour after consuming a 50g of glucose dose which is the recommended screening test of diabetes in pregnancy.
- Full urine analysis to detect urinary tract infections and abnormally high level of proteins which is important in suspecting pre-eclampsia (toxemia of pregnancy).
- Hepatitis B virus test, which may transmit the disease from the mother to the fetus.
- Detection of infectious diseases, which might cause abortion at a certain stage of pregnancy, or can be transmitted to the fetus during pregnancy and childbirth resulting in some congenital abnormalities in the baby.

Description
The thyroid gland’s job is to produce thyroid hormones, which are secreted into the blood and then carried to every tissue in the body. These hormones help the body use energy, stay warm and keep the brain, heart, muscles, and other organs working as they should. Thyroid blood tests are used to tell if your thyroid gland is functioning properly by measuring the amount of thyroid hormones in your blood.
Thyroid blood tests show if you have:
- Hyperthyroidism: This means that you have an overactive thyroid. In this case, the gland produces more thyroid hormones than your body needs.
- Hypothyroidism: This means that you have an underactive thyroid. In which case, the gland produces less thyroid hormones than your body needs.

In early 2020, after a December 2019 outbreak in China, the WHO identified SARS-CoV-2 as a new type of coronavirus. The outbreak quickly spread around the world. Although that was two years ago, there’s no way to tell how long the pandemic will continue.
The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. If you feel any of these symptoms don’t hesitate to call your doctor or take the required test to identify the virus. Subsequently, self-isolate until you recover.
